State either got hosed or is in the same bracket as xh...
Lee Corso
Lunardi had them in the same bracket as unc.

Last team announced. Congrats, Pack. I was having a heart attack right along there with ya'll.

11 State/6 San Diego St.

Wish I was a betting man - I had a really strong suspicion that the NCAA might try to set up a 20th-anniversary Elite Eight rematch. We probably won't get that far anyway. sleep.gif

Quite the sweat there at the end.

What's everyone's view concerning early upsets? UK is the best team imo but I'd hate to have to play UConn in the second round. unc got a good draw. Syracuse did too.
dkst0426
Notre Dame, should they beat Xavier, will not be an easy matchup for Duke.
Would Virginia over Florida count?

Gregg Gumbel waited to announce State's name because Karl Hess was there and did not want to get ejected from the studio for saying their name before he finished the brackets. Seth Davis was told to sit his ******* *** down as well.

99.9 FM The Fan said the pack would be the last team called today.

I think since #Kentucky was the overall No. 1 seed they should've got #unc's bracket. #justathought

I've seen non-alcoholic beer that is stronger than unc's bracket. State as an 11 seed is just fine.

Makes up for the trainwreck of a bracket they got stuck in last year.

Actually, the numbers seem to suggest that UK's bracket is the easiest (mostly because Duke is by far the weakest 2)

"Seem" being the optimum word. Without a doubt , UK's bracket is the toughest. It's loaded. Doesn't matter anyway. unx's is the weakest regardless of the other three. Is what it is.

How do you figure? By any reckoning the West is the easiest (RPI, sagarin, pomeroy, conference standings, record, NCAA S-curve seeding). They have the worst 1 AND 2 seed, and that's by the NCAA's reckoning.

Why is everyone saying Kentucky's region is so hard? Because they *might* have a tough 8/9 game?

As mentioned, Duke is by far the weakest 2 seed (ranked 17th in pomeroy, other regions 2 seeds are ranked 2,4,8). Both Georgetown and Kansas are ranked better than Baylor and Duke, respectively. How can we say UK got screwed if they got by far the objectively weakest combination of 2/3 seeds by any measure?

Duke's already defeated KU. So much for that theory. Look ,it's obvious. unx's region is the easiest and UK's is the hardest. Enjoy it.

Temple beat Duke so obviously they are much better. RIGHT?

Dude. Stop it. Ya got the easiest bracket. Hey , unx was pre-season number one so maybe they earned it. Who knows? Doesn't matter anyway. Is what it is. Oh , and Duke beat Michigan too. laugh.gif The Midwest is the easiest regional. Like I said , enjoy it.

Says "we all know it".

No numbers of any kind support the argument. Actually the numbers suggest that the regions are fairly evenly balanced. Yes, Duke's path is MUCH tougher than unc's, but UK's is easier.

unc has Kansas, Georgetown, and Michigan on their side. Basketball royalty with travelling fans, two of which they've lost to in the tournament in the last 5 years.

How the fek does a team with a losing record against top 25 teams get a 1 seed? First time ever?
Champs 5 times
Number 3 RPI in the country. In fact, the top 4 RPI are in the same order as the top 4 seeds: UK, Syracuse, unc, Michigan St.

The committee chairman also said Henson's injury was taken into account.

If they took henson's injury into account - unc should be seeded lower. (See FSU, ACC Championship game).

playing Duke twice really jacks the RPI rating up doesn't it? What's unc's record vs top 25 competition again?

Since unc's RPI is higher, Duke benefitted more from the matchup than unc did.

And by what metric are you saying wins vs top 25? Current polls? Ranking at the time? RPI? Sagarin? Pomeroy?

We're going off of preseason RPI...unx should be TOP SEED!
(piss'n, TOP SEED does not mean on top of his head...although it could mean that I guess)
