"Tiger Woods became a self-indulgent, sex-crazed narcissist because he hung out with the wrong crowd -- including retired U.S. basketball players Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley, the shamed golfer's longtime former adviser claimed in an explosive interview Wednesday.
"I told him, 'Stay away from that son of a ***** (Jordan), because he doesn't have anything to offer to the ****ing world in which he lives except playing basketball, which he did yesterday," lawyer John Merchant told the latest edition of Vanity Fair magazine. "

I need to call this John Merchant dude and see if he wants to be the csux legal counsel.

Jordan hasn't offered anything to this world except $200 basketball shoes and highlight reels.
I'm sure he offered hope to the city of Chicago, just like another basketball playin' s.o.b. that hails from there.

So yes, " technically " he has donated millions to charity. (Which are a tax write-off, but I guess that would be splitting hairs)

Is this the same foundation that MJ closed after investigators found out the administrative costs (read: salaries to family members) were way out of whack?
And most of the money his foundation distributed to charities (I've heard 6 million over 7 years in existence) came from donations by other parties. It's not like MJ wrote a check from his $40 million(?) per year Nike royalties.
He has lent his name to golf tournaments and celebrity softball games...which is all good...but don't paint MJ as some kind of philanthropist.

warning pdf. linkJordan gives a donation to the Boys and Girls Club of Wilmington 2007Slidell was already mentioned above, try to keep up.
Text from the Wilmington Arcticle:
"WILMINGTON -- "His Airness" was back at his childhood stomping grounds today.
Michael Jordan paid a visit to the Boys and Girls Club that he attended as a youngster, this time to open a brand new reading room dedicated by the charlotte bobcats.
The new room is part of the team's community relations education initiative aimed at literacy. This is the seventh such reading room dedicated by the Bobcats throughout North and South carolina.
"Hopefully we got another Michael Jordan somewhere in terms of their success, not Michael Jordan per se in terms of basketball but just in terms of his dreams and aspiring to be the best person he can be and this is a good start."
Jordan added that it's always good to see the city grow."
There is no mention of Jordan donating anything. Again, try to keep up.
