It's officially my favorite month of the year. March is here again and all the fun starts now. But in a few short weeks it will all be over an then the long summer of recruiting news, baseball and getting new recruits qualified and ready for camps and camp reporting will begin.
But actually, before that, there are several weeks of bleeding for many NCAA fans when the exodus of young, highly recruited, highly celebrated and greatly appreciated athletes flee campus for the NBA. I wonder what some of the opinions are here about some of the most obvious.
Durrant----gone, and ready to go aside from some upper body strength-but hey, check out Teyshaun Prince
Oden----Probably gone. Too big and active to not be productive. He seems grounded and highly coachable. He is still a bit bothered by an injury I think he came back too early from. Otherwise, I am pretty sure he performs as billed and would be a no question at this point too.
B.Wright----Could go, should not. Needs size, some post moves that are not only effective against smaller shorter-armed defenders, needs to learn how to make a free throw(cuz the Brands, Randolphs and Wallaces of the world are gonna beat him to death with that smooth game in the post for the first several years). I have it on pretty good authority that an impromptu meeting is being arranged between a very unhappy and regretful young man named Marvin and the talented Mr. Wright. The topic of conversation is going to probably center around how much more ready Marvin was, athletically and physically than Brandan, but that still did not translate into Marvin being ready enough. Being a 19 year-old millionaire seems pretty nice(understatement of the year) but being an all-star is what the true goal should be for a player who is already at such a high level at such a young age. This decision is gonna be tough. He seems reserved and maybe even shy(damn them ears) and maybe that will be another factor in him wanting to hang around another season...I hope so. He probably goes anyway though.
That said, yes I think Durrant is an all-star if he leaves this draft and Oden makes me about 85% sure he will be too if he joins Durrant.
