"Candler pleaded guilty to indecent liberties with a 12-year-old girl in Ann Arbor, Mich., 37 years ago. Circuit court records from Washtenaw County, Mich., show Candler completed five years of probation without any violations.

He also pleaded guilty in 1985 to indecent liberties with a 15-year-old Wake County girl and received a suspended sentence. He was ordered to undergo therapy after the second conviction and served three years of probation.

N.C. State officials have declined to comment on whether Candler's personnel file contained any evidence that the university knew about his 1966 conviction, which occurred before his employment at N.C. State.

N.C. State athletics director Lee Fowler declined to comment Thursday on Candler's detention.

Candler said Wednesday he told N.C. State officials about his first guilty plea during his interviews in 1968 for an instructor's position in the university's physical education department. He also said that school officials encouraged him to plead guilty to the 1985 charge "to get it out of the media."

“…A brief item about the 1985 charges ran in The News & Observer, triggering questions from then-Chancellor Bruce Poulton.

Records from Candler’s personnel file obtained by The N&O show that then-Athletics Director Willis Casey wrote to Poulton for advice on how to handle the accusation."

*crickets*

The MooU Chancellor knew. The AD knew. They covered it up and employed a twice convicted molester for another EIGHTEEN YEARS. Only when the story resurfaced in 2003 did they do anything about it - letting him resign with honor.

MooU loves child molesters.

WORSE THAN PENN STATE.

WORSE THAN PENN STATE.

While I find Candler's actions disgusting, the legal system evidently said his actions weren't deplorable enough to spend any time in prison.

Sandusky is going away for life. Candler is not facing any further prosecution.

Candler didn't use university facilities to go after his little girls. He had a nice business where he could do that.

How many more years is Dorrance going to be on the payroll? Has he finished his sexual predator classes yet? He's still a hero. Candler is a shamed man.

Dorrance wasnt convicted of any crime, and was accused of sexual harassment. Candler was a twice convicted child molester, sheltered by the MooU administration and celebrated and sent off with his retirement fund.

O’Brien wants Penn State to play Hawaii for 13th game
QUOTE
As part of the NCAA’s sanctions against Penn State, the Nittany Lions will not be able to play in a bowl game for the next four years.

To counter the missed opportunity, coach Bill O’Brien said on ESPN’s “Mike and Mike” Wednesday morning that the school could play Hawaii to ”act as our bowl game at the end of the year.“

Normally, teams that play the University of Hawaii on their schedule as a non-conference game are allowed to play 13 games.

But there are some issues. Stefanie Loh of the Patriot-News reports that UH’s schedule is set for the next two seasons. Additionally, NCAA Expert for Athnet John Infante told CFT the following:

“It’s normally a part of the penalties in a major infractions case when a postseason ban is issued. It’s not in the consent decree, so still an open question of whether the NCAA would allow it as a 13th game. My bet is no.”

Keep in mind that is one person’s opinion. Alabama was able to play Hawaii in 2002 and ’03 while serving a bowl ban, so the possibility is still there for Penn State.

Guy gets a contract extension through 2020, so all of a sudden he tries to find a way around the NCAA sanctions. Hey, maybe he is in fact a perfect fit for the football culture there.

Franco Harris, two other PSU alums say Freeh Report 'flawed'

QUOTE
Franco Harris and two other former Penn State football players say the report about Penn State's handling of the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal "is highly flawed, and factually insufficient."

QUOTE
Harris, Rudy Glocker and Christian Marrone sent to other Penn State alumni an email and letter criticizing the Freeh Report that they plan to publish in The Wall Street Journal and other large publications.

QUOTE
The players claim there was a rush to judgment by the media, the board of trustees, university officials and the NCAA after the blistering report was released two weeks ago..."A grave injustice has occurred over these past two weeks that began with the issuance of the Freeh report," the email states. "After much review, it's clear the report is highly flawed, and factually insufficient. Yet, the media, the Board of Trustees, University officials and the NCAA, seem to have read only the conclusions and not the content of the report and have failed to question the report's evidentiary basis or lack thereof — they have rushed to judgment. As a result, OUR program has been brutally harmed and our Coach has been completely tarnished."

My prediction? This will not end well for Franco et al.

Feds probe possible Sandusky child porn ring
QUOTE
U.S. Postal inspectors are leading a federal investigation into whether former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky shared child pornography with other individuals, CBS News has learned.

Analyzing a computer seized from Sandusky, investigators are also looking into whether he sent "seductive letters" across state lines for sexual purposes. Some of these letters were said to be sent to some of his sexual abuse victims.

CBS News has learned that at the end of 2011, allegations were forward by the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. that Sandusky used the mails to seduce individuals to cross state lines for sexual purposes, with trips and gifts offered. Investigators are looking at 6-7 victims who might have gotten letters.

Also in March of this year, U.S. Postal inspectors were tasked to investigate The Second Mile charity, which was founded by Sandusky. That investigation is on hold, awaiting for documents to be released by the State Attorney.

A source has been told that child pornography was found in at least one of Sandusky's computers. According to the source, there is no evidence that the pornography was of his victims. There is also no mention of a ring or sharing of boys with others. CBS News investigative producer Pat Milton reports that a second source said that none of Sandusky's victims have indicated that there was shared sex with them, Sandusky and any other individual.

The investigation is being carried out of the U.S. Postal Inspectors office in Harrisburg, Pa. and the U.S. Attorney Office of the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

"I haven't heard a thing about this latest allegation," Sandusky's attorney Joe Amendola, told CBS News. "Jerry continues to maintain his innocence. We think the allegation is ridiculous."

QUOTE
Meanwhile, Penn State's board of trustees will meet this weekend to consider whether to ratify a consent decree with the NCAA that imposed penalties for how the university handled the Sandusky child molestation scandal.

Board chairwoman Karen Peetz told fellow trustees Thursday in an email, which was obtained by The Associated Press, that said there was confusion about how Penn State accepted the sanctions and whether it was the "best course" for the university.

"We have heard from President (Rodney) Erickson and from our legal team," Peetz wrote. "We have had an opportunity to speak our minds. I appreciate everyone's candor and your sincere and heartfelt comments. However, it is now time to put this matter to rest and to move on."

The resolution before the board would say that it "wishes to and hereby does ratify" the consent decree.

"We are leaders of this university," Peetz told the trustees. "We need to lead."

A notice posted on Penn State's website said the 5 p.m. Sunday telephone conference would be broadcast live online.

Too bad the leaders didn't lead before.

Gonna throw the BS flag on a couple of paterno's comments:

QUOTE
The book quotes Paterno as shouting "I'm not omniscient!"

This statement was in reply to comments about sandusky. No joe, you certainly WEREN'T omniscient, BUT, a grown man CAME TO YOU and described a scene out of a Roman male pr0n movie. YOU worked AGAINST reporting this to the police. (Freeh)

SO STFU and burn in hell.

yet more linking of unc-ch***** and PSU:

QUOTE
Q: If the reporting is accurate it appears there may be a major academic fraud case building at North carolina. Can we expect the NCAA Executive Committee or your office to streamline the process as it did in the Penn State case?

A: Certainly, my conviction is that we will always rely on our established investigative principles and our practices in our normal penalty structure in all but the most extraordinary cases. I think most everyone in the sports community recognizes that the Penn State case as it came out and as the facts were established was like nothing anyone has ever seen before.
