Lists are pretty fekkin stupid.

But some folks live and die by them. Perception before substance. To seem rather than to be.

....obviously you didn't even read the link. It's a list of universities that have a lot of street cred but you can get a degree from them fairly easily if you're trying to just get your peice of paper. In other words, MIT isn't on the list because they don't give out peices of paper that say "MIT" on them.

That wooshing sound over your head? Yeah. Just ignore that.

By the way, NC State wasn't even considered because they don't meet the "minimum threshold of consideration" of 1250 average SAT score :-\

You're bragging about a difference between less than 75 points on the SAT? Really? Has being a carolina fan been watered down to this?

no, actually, they don't either for the most part.

By the way, 75 points lower on the SAT is a shitload considering it's an AVERAGE and not a single score.

You're a fekking idiot.

http://www.studybeans.com/sat/your_score.html

The highest possible score is 2400. 75 / 2400 is 0.03125. 3%.

Not insignificant, but certainly not

..............obviously you aren't a part of a strong mathematics institution. If you did, you would realize that average means that if you took any notional student from NC State and one notional student from unc, they would only be 75 points apart in their SATs. The fact that it's an "average" doesn't mean it's any more likely that one student would be massively better than the other, unless you have the statistical distribution of scores at your finger tips.

Actually, the only way you can argue that its "a shitload" is if you establish that NC State is accepting more individuals who are massively intelligent and blowing the Hell out of the SAT. Only then could you make some kind of argument that thousands of NC State students are complete idiots resulting in a 75 point average difference.

...in other words, you're full of shit. You have no information to make a claim that 75 points "is a shitload".

I know, right? I mean, Champs doesn't even understand how averages works. He thinks that somehow the word "average" makes a number bigger than it really is.

I'll let you correct yourself on this one.

Also, 75 points is a lot. It's about 7-8 questions wrong. There are 100~ questions for M+R (150-160~ questions per exam for M and R, G). That's almost FULL letter grade different here at unc

edit: fixed values
