Ol Jay Bilas was slurping bf's knob before the game, talking about how he can shoot, etc. At the time bf was hitting .352 from the field.
.352 That was BEFORE his 2-9 last night. |

I got no sympathy for 'im. At all. And it ain't just because he chose unx over Duke. He asked for the attention. Nay,BEGGED for it. The skyping bs shoulda been a red flag right there. Yeah,Duke was complicit and,20/20 hindsight,I wish K had never gone near 'im. He and Roy DESERVE each other. Black Falcon. My azz. I will say this though. He'd be a player at Duke. K would maximize his abilities whereas Roy has him, uhhh, what? Standing around the perimeter? Accent on "standing." Watch 'im sometime. The kid hangs around out there doing nuthin.' He ain't a jump shooter so it ain't like he's waitin' for a kick. Shet, the other team doesn't even GUARD 'im out there. Pathetic. Nice job,Roy. Well done.

Ask McRoberts about "maximizing abilities" imo.

QUOTE Ask McRoberts about "maximizing abilities" imo. Josh is an NBA starter. I've never heard him say that K didn't maximize his talents. That's a pretty weak fukkin' effort,5. Comparing K's and Roy's pros now? Ya wanna go down THAT road? Really? |

Ask McRoberts about "maximizing abilities" imo. The guy starting ahead of Tyler Hansbrough? That McRoberts? We could ask Danny Green how Roy Williams does in that department. Could go back to May and McCants, too. And then Noel, Wright, Terry, Ellington, and Davis. I'll give Felton something resembling a pass (no pun intended) because compared to them, he's All-Star caliber. I'm sure the NBDL and European teams are really reaping the benefits of those guys' maximized abilities. |

The fact that the NBA can't get them to produce reflects of them. They performed fine for Roy. The opposite is true for K. K couldn't get him to do shit. |

The opposite is true for K. K couldn't get him to do shit. McRoberts averaged 13 ppg, 8 rpg, 3.6 apg and 2.5 blocks his last year (soph) at Duke. In his freshman year he only shot 6 times per game and averaged almost 9 ppg. That year Shelden and JJ took over half the team's shots. |

I can see why you'd miss the point, though, seeing as how simple comprehension really hasn't been your strong suit in my relatively short time here so far. And the namecalling? Are you like 12 or something? |

and whoever was responsible for preparing them for their life after college. oh, wait, that would be unc-ch and ol'huckster. Gee, I thought I was responsible for myself after college, and responsible for "preparing myself". I can see why some would offload that to others though. |

QUOTE Gee, I thought I was responsible for myself after college, and responsible for "preparing myself". Agree with you here. 100%. Let's not forget though the "Duke guys suck in the NBA. unc develops talent" thing was yelled loudest from the tallest tree from the unc folks. That song is sung no more. Just like a lot more songs in the unc hymnal |

Here's my take on Roy.
Roy is a good recruiter. I won't say "great" because let's face it, he's been head of two programs that basically recruit themselves. But he does get top talent year after year throughout his career. He has never had to build or rebuild squat. Roy is a horrible in game coach. The saved timeouts, unwilling to alter his team's playing style, etc. Roy is a horrible motivator. Look at the wasted head cases he's had through the years. When Roy has the best point guard in the nation...in essence a "coach" on the court...he does well. In contrast, K is also a good recruiter. He is FAR better at evaluating college talent. He NEVER gets the highlight reel guys but somehow gets great results. K, while he didn't build the Duke program from scratch, certainly did rebuild it and molded it into his own. K is the BEST at in game coaching. K is a GREAT motivator. He doesn't coddle and he'll get rid of a guy who isn't motivated. K won a NC last year without a true PG. I think this is the most amazing thing about last year's run. And last but not least, Roy is a cheater and liar. |

lol! seriously? it's the NBA's fault that Hansblo and Green et al can't play pro ball?? Hey! Since Green's free now, maybe he can come run some drills with the team and give them some pointers!!
Maybe if Roy can 1- stop his current crop from throwing the ball at each other's feet as a bounce pass instead of passing the freaking ball to their hands and 2- stop them from staring at their feet and shuffling to get behind the 3 point line such that their shots are forced and 3- realize he doesn't have "elite staff members," he needs some ballplayers and coaches on his staff and 4- put a man at point guard and LEAVE HIM THERE and let him direct traffic - THEN maybe THEN he'll have a team that will develop to its full potential. He'll never do it getting dance team escorts instead of walking with the freaking TEAM into the arena and generally thinking he is a god among the little people. Won't happen. Can you even IMAGINE Coach K doing something so stupidly childish as having an escort of dance team girls into a game? |
