Looking good for Duke

First an Austin Rivers tidbit. It appears as if Austin Rivers is all Duke, all the time, considering the recently decommitted prospect was sporting Blue Devil gear for all to see for most of the weekend. If you ask the folks that would know, they’ll tell you Rivers will be the next great Duke guard. This one looks like a done deal for Coach K and company. A backcourt of Austin Rivers and Kyrie Irving is going to be a sick combination for the Blue Devils looking to make another final four run in 2011. The rich get richer.

Don't be surprised if UK sleaze Calipari makes a late push for Rivers though.

If you think the game's passing him by look at the 2010 class he's bringing in, not to mention Harrison Barnes is about to commit.

Thorton, Hairston, Irving, Curry, and possibly Barnes added to a roster that will only lose one major contributor (Scheyer). If Singler stays for his senior year, Duke could be scary good in '10-'11.

If anything,Kansas looks to be Duke's main rival in his recruitment.

unc is a longshot for Barnes considering the players his size already signed

Duke hosting recruits at banquet

DUKE HOSTING STUDS
Duke is hosting 2011 recruits Quincy Miller, Austin Rivers, Amir Williams, & Michael Gbinije at Thursday’s banquet.

The 6-4 Rivers, a junior out of Winter Park (Fla.), decommitted from Florida and is now looking at Florida, Duke and North carolina.

“Florida is still the front-runner and Duke, it’s those two,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers told me about his son. “He’s just looking around. I think he wants to really look at other schools to get a bearing on what he likes and I like what he’s doing.”

"It was really great, because you can really see what sets them apart. They are all very competitive and really love the game. The passion for what they are doing is there. It's why they are always winning. It's why they have their fourth title and why they are at the pinnacle."

Making the trip with Rivers were members of his family as well as his AAU coach, who had never had a chance to speak with the Duke coaching staff. That was remedied on Friday as the caravan made the various stops in and around the campus.

"We got to sit down with Coach K himself and the assistants. I think it was really good for my coach to sit with him and hear what they have in store for me. I think it was easy to see why I like them so much."

"No, not at all. They are being really cool about things. They didn't talk to me about when I'm going to commit. They didn't pressure me to do it. They just gave me reasons as to why they think I'd be good in their system. They are being patient. They know where I'm at with it all."

Unlike Roy,who pressures kids for commits (then bashes 'em publicly when they don't) and negatively recruits against Duke all the time. IOW,rather than sell himself and the unx program (and the benefits of going there) he chooses to bash K and Duke. Ya know holes,ya got yourself one successful basketball coach over there but he is also one more piece of shet. Glad he's yours. Seriously.

"I talked to Kyrie for half and hour the other night. He and Mike Gbinije are my guys. We talk about basketball, life, and everything else. We're all really close. With Kyrie I guess he's recruiting me to come to Duke a little bit, and I'm recruiting him to stay around long enough to play with me. He's certainly good enough to be a one and done, but I think things will work out there."

I mean Coach K is the best in the game, and playing at Duke is like playing at the center of the college basketball universe.
