Thinking about doing some kind of contest for fball season. All I have to offer as prizes are teeshirts and sweatshirts and free golf in Pinehurst unless someone wants to donate something. Could be weekly shirt prizes and a grand prize. Any ideas? All thoughts welcome.

Free stuff is fine.

Golf is expensive. Besides which not everybody plays and if by some chance raves wins, he'd be arrested when he stepped on the course.

OK here's the deal.

Every week we'll pick straight up on ACC match-ups only.
Tie breaker would be a guess at the total points scored in those game (like one number for all the games)!
Lee (at his discretion) could throw in a ringer, like a Michigan/tOSU or something.
Simple (even hairless can't screw it up!).

Well if PBR is up I'm gonna play for sure

I visit this one bar that serves PBR in the bottle for a buck every Wed. and Thurs. It did much better than any of the other two dollar domestic nights and I wondered why. I mean it's only a buck more.

One of the managers told me why it was such a hit and I never forgot.

Basically, by basic barstool math, on PBR night, for every 5 you drink, you get a FREE shot!

My Greensboro days do not take me quite that far back, but I have heard about suds and duds back in the day.

Suds n Duds is still there...I think. I talked to the owner about a year ago by phone. Corner of Walker Ave. and Elam.

If you go, just remember that the big mirror that separates the bar from the washers& dryers is a one way mirror. You can ogle the babes doing laundry all you want, they can't see you.

It's supposedly under new management now. I rarely hit that corner. Mainly because its easy to get to but hard to leave from with all your wits about you

That corner about killed me back in the day. tongue.gif

Can't imagine that S&D is under new ownership. Although my friend (he's a unc grad, so he can't be too big a friend) may have retired???? He's probably in his mid-50's by now.

Staug, do you know if BW sold?

Hell, there's a college pick 'em game on Yahoo too. Spreads and all. If anyone's interested let me know and we can form a Csucks group.

It was going to hell from what I heard. The hours posted were never honored and laundry was subject to being thrown on the sidewalk if the attendant decided to knock off early. However, he would not leave, he would sit inside drinking up the profits and waving at the patrons who returned to their still damp piles of laundry. Of course they were drunk from Wahoos or the Tiger, due to poorly stocked spirits, so it got ugly a few times. I, of course, do not know who "he" is, but I will find out shortly. I am certain there are two sides to these stories.

I learned all this from a friend who visited regularly. Never saw it first hand. When she found it was for sale she told me about it. We buy commercial and residential properties from time to time if it looks like a winner, but this deal did not. The reputation had gone pretty sour and the place needed a ton of work. Whoever bought it has a "under new management" mural across the front glass.

I did hear it was an awesome place back in the day though. Some of the people I know who knew it when it was in its prime said it was the funnest place in the 'boro to hang and most of them said they never did the first load of laundry there. They all agree that it took a rapid turn for the worst about a year or so ago. Despite this unfortunate turn, it is still revered as a hallowed ground of sorts.

As a business idea in the era and location it opened, it was genius IMO.

My friend must have sold it for sure. He is a good businessman. He's got a house in Lindley Park to prove it.

It was the only bar in GSO that started serving beer at noon. laugh.gif

PlanB, I'll let you know about the contest. Sounds good.
