This article didn't mention the strange calls throughout the game. The "incomplete" pass at the 5 yd line with a minute before halftime. The "pass interference" when the ball was 10' over the receiver's head on 3rd and 10, and the quick review "non fumble" in Va. tech territory that the announcers seemed to think was pretty obvious as a fumble. unc didn't help themselves with the fumble inside the 5 yard line by Houston in the first half, and the back-up field goal kicker being horrible. I'd say that 3 point loss was more like a 10-14 pt win. Missed opportunities and some "strange" officiating. But this is what unc football has become, one big missed opportunity.

Charles Brown gets away with holding and interference on nearly every play.

I saw a unc player push past a ref after a play and make contact with a VT player who he was jawing at. Should have been 15yds but no flag.

And the out of bounds catch at the 5 yd line???? Puleeeze, the unc receiver was WAY out of bounds and didn't maintain control. <--this is one of the biggest gripes by unc concerning the officiating. The fact that one ref called it complete was ASTOUNDING.

Gio appeared to be facemasked before the helmet to helmet which was not called. The blown pass interference call lead to a TD. The blown call on Highsmith cost us a great shot at a TD or a MUCH shorter FG. The questionable call on DJ cost us a chance to score. We had 7 penalties for 57 yards. VT had 2 for 25."

I listened to sports talk radio just to hear the whinning today!

....and I was NOT disappointed!
On que the holes all called in saying "THE REFS ROBBED US!!!!!!!!"

Just like the day before they were all calling in saying "Dean was STILL better than K because he recruited the 1st black, Charlie Scott, and inovated and revolutionized the entire college game!!!!!!"

No wonder their players/professors/coaches/administrators/tutors have a hard time understanding what "cheating" is, they ALL seem to be deranged!

That's better than their overall win pct since Butch arrived. Also, Cherry does a lot of tv games...which usually include strong opponents....like GTech and VT this year.

unc fans are just so accustomed to receiving ALL the calls (see the bowl game vs Tenn) that when a call or two SEEMS to go against them they simply cannot believe it.

And after the TA call, which led to the ACC using instant replay and the "win" against Tenn, no unc fan EVER has the right to complain.

That's pretty simple-----VT's BB just isn't very good.

IOW , the Hokie made an appropriate comment that illustrated unx hypocrisy. AND , as you saw , the holes had no decent rebuttal for it. Just like this morning on WFNZ. I jump in the car , turn on the radio and the first voice I hear is a tarhole fan whining. All these calls start the exact same , mind you , regardless of sport. "Uhhh , yeah , hi there. I'm a lifelong tarheel fan and I just wanted to comment on yada yada yada...." Anyway , after the usual preamble , the hole goes on to say that he's "realistic." Why? Because he KNOWS when his holes travel to CIS , they're gonna be playin' " 8 on 5." Jack-azz was serious too. Clearly , "in his mind" , unx NEVER benefits from home-cooked officiating. Dude, I moved to NC in the spring of 1972. I started to follow ACC basketball soon thereafter. I, as a newbie with NO allegiance, noticed the ref and press bias immediately. One of the reasons I refused to cheer for the baby blue.
