From ESPN Insider:
QUOTE
North carolina Tar Heels

We recently wrote about the news that Larry Drew II would transfer from Chapel Hill. Freshman Kendall Marshall had been recently promoted to starting point and some analysts opined this would be a better move for the Tar Heels.

Specifically, unc would be a much more efficient team on offense. Marshall's assist rate is 42.8 percent, while Drew's rate is much lower (25.3 percent). Furthermore, even his Tar Heel teammates say the offense might flow better. "They are two different types of players. Kendall can really pass and creates a lot of opportunities for shooters and post players. He finds guys. Larry is a defensive-minded player," said Tyler Zeller.

One tempo-free stat to keep an eye on is the points per possession with Marshall solely running the O. Per John Gasaway, when Drew was the starter in early January, unc's PPP was 1.11 -- one of the best in the ACC. However, a few weeks later (and after Marshall assumed more responsibilities) and the offense has dipped -- .99 PPP.

Marshall had a "net" as long as Drew was there. First of all , the fans woulld've loved 'im anyway just by default. They hated II. Secondly , there was no pressure on the freshman. He fuks up , he goes back to the pine. LarryAngeles returns and suffers the slings and arrows. KM gets the "he's just a freshman" pass. NOW , it's on HIM. No true pg to back 'im up. No UPPERCLASSMAN pg to back 'im up. He ain't the fastest pg Roy's ever had either. How will he handle the pressure of ACC ROAD games when the opponents are pressing 90-feet and the crowd is deafening? He may very well answer the call but it is by no means a sure thing that he will. Plus , I'm hearing unx'ers explain that Strickland can give a solid 10 minutes at the point. Really? Is that true? I've seen no evidence of that ability as yet. What happens in a close game when KM leaves Dexter to handle it? A close game could turn into a rout and not in a good way for unx. I'm sure there are other variables I'm missing but ya get my point. IMO , the only certainty now is that unx will be better in the long run because of II's departure. The short term? We'll see.

All the intangibles are better than drew (team player, leader, well liked, etc.). We'll see if that translates on the court.

Defense against opposing guards got a lot worse.

Anyone who tells you Drew won't be missed is an idiot.

You guys won't miss his points or turnovers or intangibles, but he was a good defender.
And in the NCAA tournament it always seems that the final 4 teams always have a guard that goes off.
I think unc will be able to adjust to his leaving, but it may take a few games.

Doesn't actually address/answer the question , does it?
