This Barnes kid is decent, but not anywhere near the hype that surrounds him. All-American my ass. ESPN should be ashamed of trying to cover their ass like this.

What if, indeed.

Hell, if I got one more hit per game playing HS ball I could have gone to college for free. Probably would have been an All American! laugh.gif laugh.gif

Know what the difference between hitting .250 and .300 is? It's 25 hits. 25 hits in 500 at bats is 50 points, okay? There's 6 months in a season, that's about 25 weeks. That means if you get just one extra flare a week - just one - a gorp... you get a groundball, you get a groundball with eyes... you get a dying quail, just one more dying quail a week... and you're in Yankee Stadium.

Btw, no one's said it out loud, but it's pretty clear that preseason AA, #1 out of HS, projected #1 pick Barnes is a BUST.

Going to unc didn't cost him millions. Not being that good cost him millions. Barnes is a poster child for the NBA age restriction. Him going to college saved some team millions of dollars. Remember how unc fans were talking about how Barnes would be the one to rescue the Cleveland Cavs.

His lack of talent would have been hidden on Dukes roster and he would have still easily gone top 3 in the draft off of hype. He would have been a huge bust when he got the to league but he at least would have had 15+ million dollars in his pocket. Hes literally lost millions of dollars by picking to go to unc over Duke, every game he plays he loses more money. Take note Shabazz, Sulaimon and Murphy, Barnes was ranked higher then all of you and look at this disaster.

harrison barnes 4 year starter

Barnes and Henson really almost have to go pro after this year. Their are gambling whatever draft stock they have by coming back. Barnes is probably still a lottery pick and definitely still a first round pick, but if he comes back and struggles as badly as he has this season, he could easily fall out of the first round. Henson's stock is a bit safer due to his shot blocking ability, but all else being equal, the NBA would prefer the sophomore to the junior every day of the week.....And I have to chuckle at unc fans who think Henson should stay in school to put on weight. That just is never going to happen.

Well its looking like Barnes is going to be a 2-3 year player at this point and he may end up being a pretty good college player and solid pro. That said, its clear he did not have the natural phenom ability everyone thought he did. Barnes would maybe perform better in Duke's system but he would have still carried the same moniker of 1 overall player. Its also unlikely that there is anything K could do with Barnes as a freshman to make him spectacular. Instead he'd be another pro prospect "ruined" by K. We're very fortunate in some regards that Barnes didn't pick Duke, but we also don't know how his career will end at unc. Right now I kinda feel bad for the kid. I hope he has some good support on the team because the fans have clearly turned on him.

They ( IC ) all repeat the talking point about how he is improving. That is completely false. His best two games of the year were their first two games against terrible teams. His PPS is probably among the lowest of wings in the entire country, and he isn't particularly good at any other facet of the game.

I don't think any team could hide the fact that he's no better than Jerod Ward/Felipe Lopez/Lavell Blanchard, so I think his big mistake was not faking an injury early in the season and sitting out until the Draft....I think K made the bigger mistake by wasting his time and energy recruiting him.

Also, there was a lot of talk about him "getting it" based on him hitting some shots downt he stretch vs VT. Really? REALLY? Based on him knocking down some wide open jumpers, at home, against a teams so decimated by injuries that they literally could not sub in for guys who were cramping up. Of course he got some open shots. He hit them, which is apparantly a miracle worthy of inclusion in forthcomming editions of the Bible, but that situation is nothing for unc to cheer about.....I too am glad he went to unc and not Duke, even though he could turn into a decent supporting player down the stretch. His great work ethic and attitude got him his ranking. The only thing was, that stellar work ethic simply meant that he was maxed out ability wise.......As for "the experts" getting off his jock, it won't happen. They will never admit how wrong they were. Not ever. No frosh has ever been hyped up this much, and few top ranked players have ever flopped this hard. Felip Lopez was decent as a Frosh. No other No. 1 has ever been this built up and been anywhere close to this mediocre.

Barnes defense would have been better here. Probably his shot selection as well. But there's no way we could have gotten him to perform up to those Preseason AA accolades. He's just not that athletic or talented.

Those ^^^ are "kind." I nstitutional C ontrol...

Harrison Barnes was being mentioned in the same league as Kobe Bryant, Carmello Anthony, and Kevin Durant coming out of HS...In fact, he was considered better. Most considered him a near lock to go #1 overall in the NBA draft if he wasn't required to go to college.

All we did was save some poor, struggling NBA franchise from wasting the #1 pick and a ton of $$.

Barnes has no explosion to the basket at all, and neither does Bullock or McDonald. It's evident that we are, once again, an average team with no real end in sight.

I really have to wonder how HB would be doing had he gone elsewhere??

Will the announcers ever stop about Barnes being a first-team all american? Give it a rest!

Drew looks awful, Strickland looks awful and Barnes is in over his head.

Barnes would probably give anything to get into the DeLorean to go back to last November.....He would have signed with Coach K in a cocaine heartbeat.

Barnes are you kidding me?

Barnes traveled, missed anyway.

Barnes out of control.

terrible shot by Harrison

Barnes' body language seemed to say "Why didn't I choose Duke?"

Harrison Barnes does not like contact. Anyone notice this? He does everything he can to avoid it. Fade-away, going to the rack soft.

Biggest disappointment is this^^^

I bet his mom is wishing that she had been recording Grant Hill highlights instead of Michael Jordan's

Barnes was so over rated as a HS player.
He will be a good college player, but really ...#1 HS player. Wow!

FWIW,the comments about ROY are 100X worse. Easy.
