Truly a morbid occasion for unx'ers everywhere. A long-held TKKF "truth" died this week.....

Which NCAA program is best at producing NBA stars?

QUOTE
Imagine for a moment, if you will, that you are a high school basketball phenom (if you are REALLY a high school basketball phenom, stop surfing the net and go practice some free throws or something). Like most young players, you have aspirations of playing in the NBA one day, so obviously you want to pick a college to attend that will maximize your chances at becoming a NBA star in the near future.

What school do you choose?

With 347 NCAA Division I programs to select from, the choice are endless.

Or are they?

The truth of the matter is there are only a handful of schools that pump out NBA stars on a consistent basis. So what schools are these, you ask? We’ve got the answers. Remember that we’re not concerned with schools that supply the NBA with a high quantity of players; rather we are more concerned with the quality of these players. And we only care about the present, so we’re only interested in current NBA players. So, with that in mind, we came up with this handy scoring system to rank players to determine which college is currently best at producing NBA “stars”:

QUOTE
1) Duke - 24 points

QUOTE
Current NBA stars: Grant Hill, Carlos Boozer, Elton Brand, Shane Battier
Future stars: Kyrie Irving (top 10, 2011), Mason Plumlee (top 10, 2011), Kyle Singler (mid-first round, 2011), Nolan Smith (late first round, 2011)

QUOTE
Duke makes it three Atlantic Coast Conference schools (and three North carolina schools) to crack the top five. It’s no great shock that the reigning NCAA champ tops the list, as the Blue Devils were sending players to the big leagues even before Coach K stepped on campus. And the cupboard is nowhere near being bare, as the current roster has at least four guys who will someday step onto a NBA court. What’s more, top high school player Austin Rivers (and maybe Quincy Miller) has committed to Duke, which means the Blue Devils look to be an impact program — both in the NCAA and the NBA — for years to come.

Just LOL at "future stars". Get it done in the NBA and then talk.

Also, pretty sure we all knew carolina had a long stretch of unproductivity that's still showing in the NBA. Don't worry; Duke will be headed that way soon when K retires or dies.

The same way unx did when Dean left? And we all KNOW ya don't wanna bet the farm on Roy bringing in future NBA stars. He couldn't do it at KU (Pierce,Heinrich and who? Drew Gooden? Scott Pollard? Mark Randall? laugh.gif ) and he hasn't proven that he can do much more at unx either.

So then is Roy doing more with less? Two NCAA Championships with bums? Can't have it both ways.

The first group wasn't his kids. Five or six nba players on that team (even if they are shitty nba players). Second group had three or four nba kids. So yes he was getting the talent.

Who said anything about "more with less?" There's 2 coaches here. Both get (and have gotten) great collegiate players. However, one of those coaches develops his "college" talent into "NBA" talent more successfully than the other one does. For years,Duke fans have listened to unx'ers credit Dean for "developing" and/or "producing" the MJ's and the Worthy's and the Wallace's,etc. As if God-given talent wasn't gonna put those guys in the league no matter WHERE they went to school. Well, shoe's on the other foot (or heel) now. Do unx'ers credit K for Boozer,GHill,Brand, etc. or was he (much like Dean) just fortunate enough to have NBA-ready talent play in his program? THERE'S your appropriate usage of the "can't have it both ways" quote with regards to this particular subject.

I wouldn't even consider Antawn (sic...momma misspelling) a star. Ever. Just like the rest of the 90's class they are underachieving. They lead in the Highlight Reel category, though. And they'll be pushing 40 soon.
